Tips for a Relaxing Swim in Sentosa Beaches, Singapore

Pahlawan Beach Sentosa Singapore Beaches in Singapore Relaxing Swim

As a local beach bum myself, Sentosa is our only hope for a perfect beach day out, compared to the other beaches in SG, πŸ˜‚ However! there are few encounters that may cause discomfort to swimmers. These are 5 tips you can practice to ensure the best experience for a relaxing swim in Sentosa!

1) Tide Forecast ⭐

The next time you're planning your beach trip, after checking for the weather forecast, do not forget to check the TIDE !! Based on my personal experience, the waters tend to have a strong smell during the low tides. And that smell kinda sticks on you. πŸ˜–
Nevertheless, high tides will make the waters look "clearer and cleaner". Ever since, I only plan my swim in accordance with the timing of the high tides and I have no complaints so farπŸ˜‚
Here's how you check for Tides.

  •  look at the row of your chosen date to see if the tide is high or low.
  • the H/L section indicates if it's high or low.
  • for best clear waters I'd recommend going for high tides between (2.6 - 3.2 height)

2) Mode of Traveling

In this fine city, the humid weather is inevitable. Unintended sweats are something we do not enjoy especially because its uncomfortable and makes you cranky. That is something you do not want to start your beach day with.. CRANKY-NESS!! if that describes you, then naturally, you would want to stay dry and comfy as much as you could. Choose the mode of transport that works for you.

If you have your own vehicle good for you, skip this tip.
If not, these are 4 ways of public transports to get to the beaches,
by Monorail, Bus, Grab and Broadwalk.

Monorail
(from vivocity)
The best choice to travel to Pahlawan & Siloso beach. (cost $4-5)  5-10 min walk from beach station to desired beach spots. You can also take the tram.

Bus
Best for returns if you have a direct bus to your home. (ezlink)

Grab
Especially perfect for travel to Tanjung Beach as you will alight directly at the beach itself.  (High Cost as there will be an additional $6-7 fee upon entry)
FEE IS WAIVED IF YOU'RE AN ISLANDER.(Sentosa membership)

Broadwalk
Walk from Vivo City to Waterfront Station's Monorail and take the monorail to the beach station.
( free - $1)

My recommence? Save your sweat and Grab your way to Tanjung Beach!πŸ˜‚

3) Pack Light and Smart

The mantra:

"Bring only what you need and minimize your essentials!"

4) Stay hydrated, Get Cold Drinks and Refreshments!

Even if you packed some food and snacks, nothing beats the icy cold drinks and refreshments! No problem with that, all three beaches are filled with shops, bars, and cafes πŸ’¦πŸΉ

5) Avoid Public Holidays

As this post is all about relaxing, going to the Sentosa beach on a public holiday may not be the best idea.  The massive crowd would totally make you feel irritable when all you need is a piece of tranquility. I've been to Sentosa during the Chinese New Year once and boyyyyy i was shocked with how much people our tiny beach can accommodate! Some of the best times to go are in the mornings and weekdays.

Plan away! I hope these 5 tips could make a better beach day for ya!
